VOLUNTEER DOG TRAINERS & ASSESSORS
Whilst RAD is a Leicester-based organisation we currently have clients across the UK. We benefit from the invaluable support of a network of volunteer trainers across the country, but still have a number of vacancies for volunteer trainers and assessors.
Our volunteer dog trainers support RAD's work by offering top-up training and Public Access assessments to a small number of clients who are currently in training but do not live close to Leicester. There is no minimum time commitment to volunteer for RAD, however we would prefer trainers to be able to offer time on a regular basis in order to develop a working relationship with clients in their area.
RAD also has a number of clients who have passed their initial Public Access test and only require an annual reassessment, but do not live close to our base in Leicester. We are also seeking to recruit qualified dog trainers to carry out the reassessments.
We offer all volunteer dog trainers an initial training package and ongoing support. Although we are ideally seeking trainers who have experience of working with people with mental health disabilities the role does not involve providing any mental health support and training and support can be provided.
RAD is currently looking for trainers in the following areas:
- Norfolk
- London
- Lincolnshire
- Hampshire
- Scotland (particularly Edinburgh and Glasgow)
- Wales border
- Devon / Cornwall
We are seeking trainers who:
- Have a dog training qualification or equivalent.
- Have at least one year of professional experience training dogs.
- Have some experience of working with clients with a mental health disability or autism.
- Ideally have experience working with assistance dogs.
- Are able to work alone with a client in a public space.

If you are a qualified and experienced dog trainer and are interested in finding out more about volunteering for RAD please email us: trustees@radassistancedogs.org.uk
